1.1 This specification covers and defines the minimum requirements for shop painting, field
painting, and repair work at site for surface preparation, inspection and paint application to
equipment, unburied piping and steel structures, storage tanks, etc.,
1.2 This specification is not applicable for fireproofing paint.
1.3 This specification is not applicable for building, door and window, etc.
1.4 The application of paints for field erected equipment which is specified in section 13 of this
specification is by Construction Contractor.
1.5 EPs Contractor is responsible for preparing paint for field application including structures,
piping and equipment which is specified in section 13 of this specification.
1.6 Shop fabricated equipment shall be painted by fabricator in compliance with this
specification.
1.7 This specification also covers and defines the minimum levels acceptable to the Purchaser in
respect of surface preparation and protective coatings applied to carbon steel and ferritic alloy
steel surfaces of miscellaneous equipment, in cases where adoption of the Vendor’s standard
coating system is permitted. (See section 13 of this specification).
